GT Alumni Club Matching Scholarships

Various alumni clubs sponsor scholarship programs for students living within the clubs’ geographic areas.  Interested applicants should contact the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, L. W. “Chip” Robert, Jr. Alumni/Faculty House, Atlanta, GA 30332-0175 for further information.  The appropriate telephone numbers are 404-894-2391 and 1-800-482-5867.  In addition, many of these Alumni Club Scholarships recipients are also awarded scholarships from Georgia Tech through a scholarship program termed – “Matching GT Club Scholarship”     It is the generosity of the donors listed below which make the club matching scholarships possible.  These scholarships do not require a separate application.

James F. Beall Fund

This fund was established with the 1978 sale of approximate 8,000 ounces of silver bullion given by Mr. Beall, Class of 1929.

Charles Bickerstaff Fund

An endowment was established in 1988 by Gayle Bickerstaff Kennedy in memory or her husband Charles A. Bickerstaff, Jr.  Mr. Bickerstaff was a member of the Class of 1938.

Class of 1930 Reunion Fund

An endowment set up with pledges made by the Georgia Tech Class of 1930 on the occasion of their 50th class reunion.

Tommy Carlisle Fund

A fund established with gifts made in memory of Tommy Carlisle, Class of 1968.

George C. Griffin Fund

Upon the retirement of Dean of Students George C. Griffin, this fund was established in his honor from gifts of Georgia Tech alumni and friends.

James R. Griggs Fund

An endowment set up in 1987, by James R. and Evelyn Griggs.

Newton Samuel Herod Fund

The fund was established by the estate of Ruth Oliver Herod in memory of her husband Dr. Newton Samuel Herod, professor of physics.

Oxford Industries, Inc. Fund

An endowment created in 1986, by a grant from the Oxford Industries Foundation.

Azeez Shaheen Fund

An endowment established in 1956, with a gift from the Shaheen Foundation.

Frances M. Smith Fund

A fund established by the family of Frances M. Smith in her honor.  Ms. Smith was a long time and loyal administrative staff member at Georgia Tech.

Jackson S. Smith Jr. Memorial Fund

Gifts made in 1974, by friends of Jackson S. Smith Jr. have been used to establish this Endowment in his memory.

Arthur W. Solomon Fund

This fund was established by Mrs. Arthur W. Solomon in memory of her husband.

Richard K. Whitehead, Sr. Fund

In 1985, the Richard K. Whitehead Foundation established this endowment.  Mr. Whitehead was a Georgia Tech alumnus who founded the Whitehead Engineering Co. and the Whitehead Die Casting Co.
