Academic Competitiveness Grant and SMART Grant
Two new federal aid programs have been created that may benefit eligible Georgia Tech students. Students must complete the FAFSA and Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid to have their eligibility evaluated. No separate application will be required.
Academic Competitiveness Grant

U.S. Citizen

Graduated after January 2005 from a “academically rigorous” high school program

Full-time freshmen or sophomores

Freshmen can receive up to a maximum of $750 per year

Sophomores can receive up to a maximum of $1,300 per year and must achieve and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA
The OSFA is working with Undergraduate Admissions to determine which high school programs meet the federal definition of “rigorous”.
SMART Grant

Full-time juniors or seniors

Achieve and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

In a qualifying major – Math, Science, and/or Engineering Degree Programs
