Graduate Financial Aid
Contacting Our Office
The Office of Scholarships and Finanical Aid (OSFA) provides a Financial Aid Advisor for you to contact with any questions or concerns you may have about your financial aid.
Requests for personal financial aid information need to be made by the Graduate Student, via an in person visit to our office or an email from their Georgia Tech email address.
Applying for Financial Aid
Federal Direct Loans are available to eligible graduate students through OSFA. The application process includes:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Georgia Tech Title IV Code is 001569. The FAFSA is available on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Submit the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid. Please note that this form can only be completed online.
- Complete the steps outlined at www.finaid.gatech.edu/loans.
The priority deadline (ensures delivery of financial aid before fee deadline) to apply for financial aid is May 1 for all graduate students.
Calculating Your Loan Eligibility
Loan amounts are calculated based on Cost of Attendance (COA) - Resources (Fellowships, GRA/GTA). Our graduate COA is based on the reduced tuition that graduate student assistants will pay. If you will not be receiving an assistantship, please email your financial aid advisor. On receipt of your message, your COA will be adjusted appropriately.
Please note that the Graduate PLUS Program is subject to a credit check.
It is the student's responsibility to keep OSFA informed of other funds/assistantships awarded. If you inform us that you will not be receiving an assistantship and we calculate your eligibility for loans and you subsequently receive an assistantship and corresponding tuition waiver, then the student will be held financially responsible for the resulting overaward of federal student aid/benefit.
Fellowships
Many graduate departments offer fellowships to Georgia Tech graduate students. You must be nominated for these awards by your academic department.
